Abstract (eng): The aim of this work was to compare different optimization methods in filter design.
An elliptic band pass filter was optimized.
The filter met specifications when components were ideal, but not with lossy components.
Optimization methods that were used were steepest descent method, four different conjugate gradient methods, minmax method, method of Nelder and Mead and method of Hooke and Jeeves.
Optimization was done with APLAC Circuit Simulator.
Method of Nelder and Mead turned out to be fast and reliable, while gradient methods were slower but also reliable.
Method of Hooke and Jeeves needed adjusting parameters before the specifications were met.
Minmax method did not meet the specifications with any parameter values that were used.
Abstract (fin): Työn tavoitteena oli vertailla optimointimenetelmiä suodatinsuunnittelussa.
