Abstract (eng): | This thesis evaluates a method for stochastic optimization method for pose interpretation from sketches. The method consists of a stochastic search function, combined with a weighting method. For search function, particle filtering is applied. For weighting function, rendered contours of a 3D model are compared to sketch using Hausdorff distance. The thesis starts with a short review of the existing state of practice in sketching and computer animation, followed by a similar evaluation of methods for articulated model tracking. The areas of particle filtering and 3D contour generation are reviewed thoroughly. The thesis represents a research setting, where two 3D models are evaluated in six different poses with best-case and real life case scenarios. The results indicate that the method works well with best-case scenarios, but may fail in real life scenarios, when the sketch is partial or contains extraneous strokes. |
Abstract (fin): | Tutkielma arvioi menetelmää, joka tulkitsee hahmon asennon piirroksen pohjalta käyttäen stokastista optimointimenetelmää. |
