Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): This master's thesis aims at disclosing practitioners' perceptions, experiences and anticipations on supply chain security.
The dissertation is a by-product of the LOG SEC project which developed a strategic roadmap towards a large scale demonstration project in European supply chain security.
The thesis contributed to the project by analysing and synthesizing user requirement data which was collected from 25 companies during the project.
The results of the user requirement analysis have been also compared with the contemporary supply chain security literature.
Both the literature review and the user requirement data analysis have been conducted using CIMO-logic as a methodology.
As the secondary objective, the thesis evaluates and discusses LOGSEC data collection methods in the light of requirement engineering and complementary research methodology literature.

The results of the user requirement analysis indicate that the users of supply chain security regard cargo theft, cyber-crime, bogus companies, and identity theft as the most significant supply chain crime threats at the time being.
To tackle these crime threats, the practitioners would like to get access to data base including relevant, accurate and timely information on supply chain security so that they would be able to prevent and detect security incidents and react quickly on them.
Security related training, awareness building and creating a vigilant organizational culture are also high on the wish list of the companies.
The comparative analysis between the user requirement data and the supply chain security literature review reveals a group of gaps between academics and the practitioners.
For instance, the literature emphasizes terrorism over other supply chain crime types.
CIMO-logic analysis reveals that mechanisms, which are triggered by security interventions and which result in certain outcomes, are poorly addressed, let alone understood, in the contemporary supply chain security literature.

In the end, the main contribution of this thesis is a systematic summary of the LOG SEC user requirement data.
This analysis sets a solid foundation for the development of a strategic roadmap towards a large scale demonstration project in European supply chain security.
Abstract (fin): Tässä diplomityössä kartoitetaan yrityksien näkemyksiä siitä, miten toimitusketjujen rikollisuudentorjuntaa tulisi kehittää tulevaisuudessa.
Diplomityössä kartoitetaan yksityisen sektorin käsityksiä, kokemuksia ja odotuksia liittyen toimitusketjun rikollisuudentorjuntaan.

Diplomityö on tehty osana LOGSEC-projektia, jonka tavoitteena oli valmistella projektisuunnitelma Euroopan laajuiselle toimitusketjun rikollisuudentorjunnan demonstraatioprojektille.
Tämä diplomityö on edesauttanut projektin onnistumista tekemällä yhteenvedon tiedoista, jotka kerättiin 25 yritykseltä projektin aikana.
Käyttäjien näkemyksiä ja kokemuksia verrataan myös nykyiseen toimitusketjun rikollisuudentorjunnan kirjallisuuteen.
Sekä yrityksiltä kerätyn tiedon analysoinnissa että kirjallisuuskatsauksessa on käytetty CIMO-logiikkaa metodologiana.
Tämän työn toinen päämäärä on arvioida LOGSEC-projektin aikana käytettyjä tiedon keräämisen menetelmiä.
Arviointi tehdään käyttäjävaatimusten kartoittamiseen erikoistuneen kirjallisuuden avulla.
Myös tieteen metodiikan kirjallisuutta hyödynnetään arviota tehdessä.

Käyttäjätiedon analysoinnin tulokset osoittavat, että yritykset ovat ensisijaisesti huolissaan toimitusketjuja koskevista rahtivarkauksista, it-rikollisuudesta, tekaistuista valeyrityksistä sekä henkilöllisyysvarkauksista.
Haastatellut yritykset ovat sitä mieltä, että intensiivinen yhteistyö ja nopea tiedon kulku toimitusketjun eri jäsenten välillä ehkäisee edellä mainittuja toimitusketjujen rikollisuudenlajeja.
Yritykset myös ehdottavat, että rikollisuudentorjuntaa koskevaa valistusta ja koulutusta tulisi lisätä työntekijöiden keskuudessa.
Tässä opinnäytetyössä tarkastellaan eroavaisuuksia toimitusketjun rikollisuudentorjunnan, kirjallisuuden ja yritysten mielipiteiden välillä.
Esimerkiksi terrorismi on vahvasti esillä kirjallisuudessa, kun taas yritykset pitävät terrorismin uhkaa vähäpätöisenä muiden liiketoiminnan kannalta merkittävämpien toimitusketjujen rikollisuudenlajien rinnalla.
CIMO-logiikan mukaisesti tehty kirjallisuuden analyysi paljastaa, että kirjallisuus ei juuri käsittele rikoksentorjuntatekniikoiden takana olevia mekanismeja.
