Abstract (eng): | The climate change, pollution of the environment and decrease of the fossil fuels have caused an intense desire to reduce the energy consumption of the building sector in the European Union. Adapting to constantly tightening regulations and requirements, and competence to apply nontraditional HVAC system solutions are important parts of modem energy design that aims to sustainable environment. This study addresses the current and future situation in legislation concerning energy usage in buildings. Modern techniques to reduce energy consumption in office buildings are also studied. Examination of the legislation is limited to the level of the European Union and Finland's national legislation. An extensive literature review was carried out in order to find non-traditional, implemented, solutions to enhance energy efficiency in office buildings. The most important part of this study contains a comprehensive simulation project of a large office building. An energy model was used to calculate the net energy demand of the building. Then three different types of energy production systems were created. These systems were used to calculate purchased energy of the building. The energy systems were designed to be as energy efficient as possible exploiting renewable forms of energy. Results indicate that the regulations and requirements will tighten even further in the near future. The importance of renewable energy as a part energy supply of buildings will increase. Dozens of solutions were found in the literature review. These contain passive, structural, solutions and exploitation of several different forms of renewable energy. The E-number of the three simulated cases was: 68, 0, 58, 2 and 53, 4 kWh/m2a. The energy system simulations showed that the system and appliance choices have a significant impact on the purchased energy of a building. |
Abstract (fin): | Ilmastonmuutos, ympäristön saastuminen ja fossiilisten polttoaineiden rajallisuus ovat johtaneet Euroopan unionin alueella voimakkaisiin pyrkimyksiin rakennussektorin energiankulutuksen vähentämiseksi. Laajamittaisessa kirjallisuusselvityksessä etsittiin maailmalla toteutettuja, tavanomaisista poikkeavia toimistorakennusten energiatehokkuutta parantavia ratkaisumalleja. |
