Abstract (eng): | In the technology industry, few companies are themselves capable of manufacturing all the needed components in final products, thus explaining the significant role a cooperation network plays in the ability of companies to compete. This thesis analyses the operations and supply network necessary to manufacture the rotor components for synchronous machines. The study begins with a literature review exploring the field itself. The next section of the thesis describes different rotor structures used in synchronous machines and all the production operations, supply network and cost structure required to manufacture the main rotor components. Based on this, mapping targets for development are sought to gain cost savings. In the end, the cost efficiency of the present state is examined by developing alternative models to produce the treated components, and by comparing total costs of the present state to developed alternative models. The outcomes of this study include concrete suggestions for developing the supply network and its processes to avoid multiple processing as well as enable smoother operation processes. In addition, the savings potential of the alternative models is estimated, not to mention the proposed resolution of any problems noted during the mapping operations. |
Abstract (fin): | Teknologiateollisuudessa yhä harvempi yritys valmistaa itse kaikki lopputuotteessa tarvitsemansa komponentit, jolloin suuri osa yrityksen kilpailukyvystä muodostuu yrityksen ulkopuolisessa yhteistyöverkostossa. |
