Abstract (eng): | The mobile networks technologies require great investments by the operators but the technology amortization is difficult due to its fast evolution and tight market competition. The virtualisation of the LTE mobile core network has been identified as a solution to share and optimize the available resources. In addition, the virtualisation may open new management and network scalability benefits. This project collects the required open source network elements and implements missing LTE components such as the Mobility Management Entity (MME) required to deploy a complete mobile core network testbed running on virtual servers. The results show the virtualisation of the core network is feasible and complies with latency requirements set for LTE networks. |
