Abstract (eng):This thesis work discusses improvements made to patient monitor alarms in a project done in GE Healthcare.
The improvements consist of new alarm functionality and changes to alarm software design.
New functionality includes a new algorithm for evaluating limit alarms and selected usability improvements.
The new Multitrend limit alarm algorithm reduces the number of irrelevant alarms while still maintaining patient safety by being responsive to critical changes in the patient's condition.
The algorithm is evaluated by running simulations on real patient data.
The usability improvements also aim to reduce the number of alarms by making the alarms easier to set up.
The goal of the alarm software design change is to make the software easier to understand and more robust.
Abstract (fin):Tämä diplomityö käsittelee GE Healthcaren projektissa potilasmonitorien hälytyksiin tehtyjä parannuksia.
Parannukset sisältävät muutoksia hälytysten toiminnallisuuteen ja ohjelmiston rakenteeseen.
Toiminnallisiin muutoksiin kuuluvat uusi algoritmi rajahälytysten arviointiin, sekä parannuksia hälytysten käytettävyyteen.
Uusi Multitrend-rajahälytysalgoritmi vähentää merkityksettömien hälytysten määrää.
Se kuitenkin reagoi nopeasti kriittisiin muutoksiin potilaan tilassa, joten potilasturvallisuus säilytetään.
Työssä arvioidaan algoritmin suorituskykyä ajamalla simulaatioita oikealla potilasdatalla.
Käytettävyysparannuksilla on myös tarkoitus pienentää hälytysten määrää tekemällä sopivien hälytyssäätöjen asettamisesta helpompaa.
Muutoksilla ohjelmiston rakenteeseen halutaan tehdä hälytyskoodista helpommin ymmärrettävää ja toimintavarmempaa.
