| Abstract (eng): | Information technology and software projects can be demanding and complex in nature, consisting of several different phases. The last stage, the implementation phase, is frequently posing a problem for the software providers. This thesis examines, by conducting a case study, the software implementation process from the perspective of a small sized information technology company operating in the domestic business to business segment. The strategic goal of the studied Case company is to increase the pace of their software implementation projects. The project manager handling the process is in need of more powerful, digital management tools to achieve the strategic target. The thesis answers the question: "Which are the requirements a project management software must fulfil in order to satisfy the needs of the Case company?". The thesis finds the investment in a software that provides proper tools for resource management and project overview over several parallel projects to be a necessity. |
| Abstract (swe): | Informationsteknologi- och mjukvaruprojekt kan vara utmanande och komplexa till sin natur, bestående av ett flertal olika faser. Den sista fasen i ett mjukvaruprojekt, implementeringsfasen orsakar frekvent problem för mjukvaruföretagen. Syftet med detta arbete är att genom en fallstudie undersöka implementationsprocessen för ett litet informationsteknologiföretag som opererar på den inhemska marknaden i business-to-business segmentet. Det strategiska målet för företaget är att försnabba processen för dess mjukvaruimplementering. Projektchefen som ansvarar för implementationsprocessen är i stort behov av kraftfullare, digitala projektledningsverktyg för att uppnå detta strategiska mål. Arbetet svarar på frågan: "Vilka krav bör ett projektledningsprogram uppfylla för att stöda företaget i dess strävan att uppnå sina strategiska mål?". Studien konstaterar att en investering i ett program som tillhandahåller rejäla verktyg för resurshantering och ger projektchefen en god överblick över flertalet parallella projekt i dagens läge närmast är ett måste. |
