You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): Goal of this study was to examine preliminary cost estimation methods of plants, especially minerals processing plants, Alan the purpose was lo find a new and fast way to calculate cost of minerals processing plant Accuracy to this new method was tested by comparing it to cost estimation of a real plant.
Existing cost estimation methods were collected from Literature.
These methods were partially adapted for designing new calculation method Cost information of plants and equipment were collected from databases of Outotec Minerals.
Also quotations from other companies were made.
Common trends were attempted to find from costs of equipment and other parts of plants to speed up cost estimating.
These trends were collected to a spreadsheet to make cost estimator and changing formulas faster and easier Trends of most costs were clear but some requires more information to get more accurate cost estimation.

Cost distributions of plants described in literature were not similar to the plant n observation.
However some similarities were discovered with parts such as electrification.
Cost estimations that were calculated based on cost information collected from Outotec Minerals were similar in order of magnitude with the plant in observation.
Some estimators had a large error so they must be investigated more to get more accurate estimations.
Abstract (fin): Rikastamolaitoksessa malmista erotellaan arvokkaat mineraalit muusta malmista.
Rikastamolaitosten tuotteiden arvometallipitoisuus on 20 - 40%.
Rikastamolaitoksia suunniteltaessa ensimmäinen kysymys on laitoksen kustannusarvio.
Tarkkaa hintaa ei suunnittelun alussa tiedetä, mutta on mahdollista tehdä hinta-arvioita.
Hinta-arvion tarkkuus on tärkeä, sillä hinta-arvion perusteella päätetään onko laitoksen suunnittelu ja valmistaminen kannattavaa.

Tutkimuksen tavoite oli tarkastella alustavia laitosten hinta-arviomenetelmiä keskittyen erityisesti rikastamolaitoksiin sekä etsiä uusi ja nopea keino laskea rikastamolaitoksen hinta.
Lopuksi tämän uuden menetelmän tarkkuutta tarkasteltiin vertailemalla sitä oikean laitoksen kustannusarvioon.
Työn kirjallisuusosassa esitellään olemassa olevia prosessilaitosten kustannusarviomenetelmiä.
Näitä sovellettiin osittain uuden laskentamenetelmän suunnittelussa.
Rikastamolaitosten ja laitteiden kustannustietoja etsittiin Outotec Mineralsin tietokannoista.
Myös hintakyselyitä muihin yrityksiin tehtiin.
Laitteiden ja laitoksen osien hinnoista pyrittiin etsimään yleisiä trendejä jotka nopeuttaisivat kustannusarvion tekemistä.
Nämä trendit koottiin myös taulukkolaskentaohjelmaan, jotta kustannusarvion laskeminen ja laskentakaavojen muuttaminen olisi nopeaa ja helppoa.
Useimpien kustannusten trendit olivat selkeitä, mutta osa vaatii lisätietoa tarkemman kustannusarvion saamiseksi.
Kirjallisuudessa esitetyt laitosten kustannusjakaumat eivät olleet kovin samanlaisia tarkastelussa olleen Outotec Mineralsin laitoksen kanssa.
