| Abstract (eng): | This master's thesis is a study of the history and current state of Pohjolan pirtti assembly hall built in 1905 by the Helsinki-based temperance association Raittiusyhdistys Koitto. First I tell briefly about the background factors, which influenced the building of the hall: the social atmosphere of Helsinki, the different phases of the temperance association Koitto and the summer settlement in the Vanhakaupunki Bay in Helsinki. In the second part of the thesis I go through the stages of the assembly hall from the establishment of the summer settlement in Lammassaari until present day. The main focus is on the construction and repair works history of Pohjolan Pirtti. The third part consists of the material gathered during fieldwork between 2010 and 2012. Here I study the structure and current condition of the building. Based on the previous parts of the thesis, the last part contains a restoration plan for the building. First I tell briefly about the restoration principles of a protected building and then go on to present a list of the repairs required in order of importance. |
| Abstract (fin): | Diplomityöni on Raittiusyhdistys Koiton aloitteesta tehty selvitys yhdistyksen omistuksessa olevan, vuonna 1905 rakennetun, Helsingin Lammassaaressa sijaitsevan Pohjolan pirtin historiasta ja nykytilasta. Työn ensimmäisessä osassa kerron lyhyesti seurantalon rakentamiseen vaikuttaneista taustatekijöistä: Helsingin sosiaalisesta ilmapiiristä, Raittiusyhdistys Koiton vaiheista ja kesäsiirtoloista Helsingin Vanhankaupunginlahdella. Toisessa osassa kerron seurantalon vaiheista Lammassaaren kesäsiirtolan perustamisesta vuonna 1904 tähän päivään saakka. Pääpaino osiossa on Pohjolan pirtin rakennus- ja korjaushistorialla. Kolmas osa muodostuu vuosina 2010 - 2012 suorittamieni kenttätutkimusten aikana kerätystä aineistosta, ja siinä käsitellään Pohjolan pirtin rakennetta ja sen nykytilaa. Viimeinen osa sisältää edellisiin osioihin pohjautuvan korjaussuunnitelman. Aluksi kerron lyhyesti suojellun rakennuksen restaurointiperiaatteista, minkä jälkeen esitän listauksen tarvittavista korjauksista tärkeysjärjestyksessä. |
