Abstract (eng): | Interest in liquid bio fuels has risen steadily over past years, due to rising oil prices and the need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions growth. Fossil fuels are intended to be replaced by renewable fuels, such as pyrolysis oil. Currently working pyrolysis oil producing reactors, in other words pyrolyzer are mostly laboratory or pilot-scale devices. The purpose of thesis is to investigate a new type of pyrolyzer and its integration to Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) boiler in industrial scale. Bubbling fluidized bed boiler and pyrolyzer integration is a new process, which has not previously been tried. Hot boiler bed material will flow through the new reactor and release required thermal energy to the pyrolyzer. When this new type of integration is done, the whole pyrolysis process efficiency is greatly improved compared to stand alone pyrolyzers. The purpose of thesis theoretical review is to analyze the structure and size of a new type of pyrolyzer and related equipment in industrial scale. The experimental part focuses on two power plants. In these power plants layout of the planned pyrolysis process has been studied on the power plants and using 3D modelling. Based on the results, it is possible to build the new type of bubbling fluidized bed pyrolyzer and integrate it to boiler. On the basis of examined power plants it is possible to build pyrolysis process to both the old and the new bubbling fluidized bed boiler plant. The importance of the results to pyrolysis oil commissioning is significant. Pyrolyzer power and pyrolysis oil yield will increase to commercial level, when they are combined with a power plant. This will provide a new market to pyrolysis oil that can be used to reduce carbon emissions. |
Abstract (fin): | Öljyn hinnannoususta ja hiilidioksidipäästöjen vähentämistarpeista johtuen kiinnostus nestemäisiä biopolttoaineita kohtaan on jatkuvasti kasvanut. Näiden tulosten merkitys pyrolyysiöljyn käyttöönottoon on merkittävä. |
