Abstract (eng): Recent privatization of Russian generating assets and gradual liberalization of electricity and heat markets have created opportunities for Fortum to enter the Russian market of maintenance services and products.

Renewal and refurbishment of Russian generating capacities have practically stopped in the 1 990s.
Decade long lack of investment in power industry is the main reason of current technical condition of power plants and obsolete equipment.
Russian power plants employ predominantly preventive maintenance and although regulators encourage more advanced condition-based and proactive maintenance strategies their use is still rare and fragmentary.
These factors establish good competitive conditions for foreign companies that can offer modern maintenance services and products.

This thesis explores the possibilities of implementation of Fortum maintenance services and products on Russian market.
Information for analysis has been collected from audit reports of power plants, benchmarking of comparable Russian and Finnish power plants and in-person interviews with personnel of power plants.

Results of the study approve the initial assumption that market for maintenance services and products is definitely out there.
However some issues such as high price tags of Fortum maintenance services and difficulties of integration of new maintenance paradigms and methods into traditional environment possess challenges.
