Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): Shopping centres have become an integral part of community life as versatile goods, service and entertainment providers in consumers' everyday lives.
Shopping centres are located in strategic locations in the urban structure gathering even bigger consumer flows and are vulnerable to security threats.

In 2003 there arose a need for a model for shopping centre security management among the operators of Finnish shopping centre industry.
The Finnish Council of Shopping Centres launched a project which brought up a model for shopping centre security management in 2005.

The study consists of two parts; literature research and interview study.
The study addresses two questions: first, how do shopping centre managers see security management as a part of shopping centre management, and second, how do the shopping centre managers see the relationship between security management and shopping centre productivity.
The interview study was conducted as shopping centre expert interviews.

According to the study, security management plays an important role in shopping centre management from the operations point of view and is connected almost every operation in shopping centre.
Security issues should be considered in every single operation and security management should rank in a high position in the organization management culture.

From the productivity point of view security management should create good settings for the tenants and their business.
Security management should strengthen customers' feeling of safety, secure the safety of the customers and tenants as well as protect owner's physical property.
Properly planned and sized security investments produce cost efficiency in the long term.
From the cost efficiency perspective shopping centre managers should also find elements outside the traditional security field.
Abstract (fin): Kauppakeskusten merkitys yhdyskuntarakenteessa ja kuluttajien arjessa kokonaisvaltaisena tavaroiden ja palveluiden tarjoajana sekä ajanvieton ja viihtymisen paikkana on korostunut.
Entistä suurempia asiakasvirtoja keräävät palvelukokonaisuudet. joihin liittyy monia intressiryhmiä. ovat kuitenkin liiketoiminnaltaan yhä haavoittuvaisempia.
Turvallisuusjohtamisen merkitys kauppakeskusjohtamisen osa-alueena on korostunut, mutta yleisesti turvallisuusjohtaminen on tukitoiminto kauppakeskusjohtamisen kokonaisuudessa.

Vuonna 2003 kauppakeskusalan alan toimijoille syntyi tarve luoda toimintamalli kauppakeskusten turvallisuusasioiden hallintaan ja liittää turvallisuusjohtaminen osaksi muuta kauppakeskusjohtamista.
Suomen Kauppakeskusyhdistys käynnisti kauppakeskusten turvallisuusjohtaminen -projektin. jossa tuotettiin kauppakeskusten turvallisuusjohtamisen malli (2005).

Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tarkastella kauppakeskusta ja kauppakeskusliiketoimintaa kokonaisvaltaisesti ja turvallisuusjohtamista kauppakeskusjohtamisen osa-alueena sekä tutkia turvallisuusjohtamisen ja kauppakeskuksen tuoton valista yhteyttä.
Tutkimustavoitteen saavuttamiseksi määritettiin seuraavat tutkimuskysymykset: Miten kauppakeskusjohto kokee turvallisuusjohtamisen kauppakeskuksen strategisen johtamisen osa-alueena? ja Miten kauppakeskusjohto kokee turvallisuusjohtamisen vaikuttavan kauppakeskuksen tuottoon?
Tutkimus koostuu kirjallisuustutkimuksesta sekä haastattelututkimuksesta, joka suoritettiin asiantuntijahaastatteluina.

Tutkimuksen mukaan turvallisuusjohtaminen on kauppakeskuksen toiminnan kannalta tärkeä kauppakeskusjohtamisen osa-alue, joka on yhteydessä lähes kaikkiin kauppakeskuksen toimintoihin.
Turvallisuusnäkökulman tulisi olla mukana kaikessa toiminnassa ja turvallisuusjohtamisen korkealla organisaation johtamiskulttuurissa.

Kauppakeskuksen tuottoa tukevan turvallisuusjohtamisen tulisi luoda vuokralaisten liiketoiminnalle hyvät puitteet vahvistamalla asiakkaiden kokemaa viihtyisyyttä ja turvallisuudentunnetta sekä turvata asiakkaiden ja vuokralaisten henkilökunnan turvallisuus, omistajan fyysinen omaisuus ja liiketoiminnan häiriöttömyys.

Kustannusten näkökulmasta turvallisuusinvestoinnit tuottavat kustannustehokkuutta pitkällä tähtäimellä oikein suunniteltuina ja mitoitettuina.
Kustannustehokkuuden ja kokonaisvaltaisen turvallisuusjohtamisen kannalta kauppakeskusjohtajien on löydettävä elementtejä muualtakin kuin perinteiseltä turva-alalta.
