Abstract (eng): | The scope of work is software process in demonstration software development in research organization. The goal was to find out how to make demonstration software by using software development project for SpeDe spectrum sensor demonstration as an exemplary case. The project was a small part of a large research program and nature of research work caused challenges for the project: difficulties in specifying requirements and changes in the scope. The project successfully delivered demonstration software. The software process was not defined, but became iterative and incremental. The case analysis shows problems in the process. Lack of progress indicators, lack of sharing what has been learned and unpredictability of software quality are raised as the main problems. Lack of progress indicators is caused by lack of quality system in the project: planning is minimal, while effort estimation and requirements management are totally missing. Lack of sharing is caused by tradition and the way resources are allocated: software project are one-man projects. Unpredictability of the software quality is caused by neglect of testing, programming guidelines and documentation. |
Abstract (fin): | Tämä työ käsittelee ohjelmistoprosessia demonstraatio-ohjelmiston kehityksessä tutkimusorganisaatiossa. Tämän työn tavoitteena oli selvittää miten tehdään demonstraatio-ohjelmisto jolla esitellään tutkimustuloksia. Työssä kuvataan ohjelmistoprosessi eräässä tutkimusorganisaatiossa. Esimerkkitapauksena käytetään projektia jossa kehitettiin demonstraatio-ohjelmisto osana kognitiivisen radion tutkimusta. |
