Abstract (eng):This study was carried out in Lighting Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology.
It is part of EU project MOVE (Mesopic Optimisation of Visual Efficiency).

The goal of this work is to summarize the theory of mesopic vision, to analyze and discuss existing studies on mesopic vision, and to get new data on mesopic vision.

The theory of mesopic vision is discussed detailed in this work, including the luminance limit of mesopic vision, foveal, peripheral and color vision at mesopic light levels.
Recommendations for nighttime driving are given on the base of theory of mesopic vision.
Experiments were done to measure contrast threshold of a moving or static target at mesopic light levels.
