Abstract (eng):This work was carried out in the Lighting Laboratory of Helsinki University of Technology and it is a part of the EU project Mesopic Optimisation of Visual Efficiency (MOVE).

Visual performance under mesopic lighting conditions has been of great interest for numerous researchers during the past few decades. The aim has been to develop a practical system of mesopic photometry. However, none of the proposed systems has been internationally accepted as the basis of a new standard of mesopic photometry, because of the complex functioning of the visual system at the intermediate mesopic light levels.

The purpose of this work is to introduce the existing mesopic models and systems and discuss and analyze in detail the advantages and disadvantages of these studies. In addition, the theory of mesopic vision and methods of measurement are summarized and recommendations for further studies are given.
Abstract (fin):Tämä työ tehtiin Teknillisen korkeakoulun Valaistuslaboratoriolle osana EU projektia Mesopic Optimisation of Visual Efficiency (MOVE).
