Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng):This thesis explores bottom ash, fly ash and crushed concrete utilization possibilities in earth construction. Thesis consists of bottom ash, fly ash and crushed concrete instruc-tions, bottom ash case studies and laboratory tests. It also includes bottom ash, fly ash and crushed concrete instructions and properties from the literature.

Bottom ash, fly ash and crushed concrete instructions were drafted for Lohja Rudus during the work of this thesis. Instructions guide the utilization of the materials as rec-ommended in government regulation of bottom ash, fly ash and crushed concrete utili-zation in earth constructions [VNa 591/2006]. Instructions of bottom ash, fly ash and crushed concrete in this thesis are meant to be as a guide book for contractor and de-signer in construction and design work.

Bottom ash case studies were put into practice in Helsinki and Hyvinkää in 2006. Main purpose was to achieve practical experience of bottom ash building and to measure ge-otechnical properties of the structure.

Laboratory tests of bottom ash were carried out as preliminary tests before case studies to figure out geotechnical properties.

Bottom ash, fly ash and crushed concrete are suitable possibilities for building materi-als in street and road pavement structures, yard and field structures, embankment fill and other applications. When building it is advised to build and design with care and follow the instructions of this thesis.
Abstract (fin):Tässä diplomityössä käsitellään pohjatuhkan, lentotuhkan ja betonimurskeen hyötykäyttöä maarakennusmateriaalina. Työ sisältää pohjatuhka-, lentotuhka- ja betonimurskerakentamisen ohjeet sekä pohjatuhkan koerakentamis- ja laboratoriotutkimusosan. Lisäksi työhön on koottu kirjallisuudessa esitettyjä ohjeita ja ominaisuuksia pohjatuhkalle, lentotuhkalle ja betonimurskeelle.

Diplomityön yhteydessä Lohja Rudukselle laaditut käyttöohjeet maarakentamiselle pohjatuhkalla, lentotuhkalla ja betonimurskeella ohjeistavat materiaalien hyötykäyttöä maarakentamisessa "Valtioneuvoston asetus eräiden jätteiden hyödyntämisestä maarakentamisessa" [591/2006] mukaisesti. Ohjeiden on tarkoitus toimia apuna urakoitsijoille ja suunnittelijoille rakennettaessa tai suunniteltaessa kyseisillä materiaaleilla.

Pohjatuhkan koerakentaminen toteutettiin Helsingin Viikissä ja Hyvinkäällä vuonna 2006. Koerakentamisella pyrittiin lisäämään käytännön tietoutta Martinlaakson ja Suomenojan voimalaitosten pohjatuhkien käytöstä maarakennusmateriaalina sekä koerakenteen geoteknisistä ominaisuuksista.
