Abstract (eng): | In process industry valve control systems are constructed using a number of pneumatic field instrumentation components hooked up in a correct way to produce the desired functionality. The selection of these components can be time consuming and difficult without proper knowhow of instrumentation systems. Mistakes in instrumentation specification can lead to mandatory changes in the order during production which can cause unnecessary extra costs and delays in the sales-delivery process. The purpose of this thesis is to derive a specification for automatic selection of these components based on functional specifications by customer. The minimum required data to fully specify a control system will be defined along with optional features that may or may not be requested by the user. The requirements presented by different stakeholders and system users in the process will also be researched and their effects on system design will be reported. The chosen method for system modeling in this thesis is feature modeling, an approach of modeling common and variable features and their dependencies in a system family. A case study of a global valve manufacturer's current business model with field instrumentation component selection will be conducted and selection logic accompanied with a system specification will be defined based on this perspective. |
Abstract (fin): | Prosessiteollisuudessa venttiilin ohjausjärjestelmät rakennetaan käyttäen useita pneumaattisia instrumentointikomponentteja, joilla eri tavoin kytkettynä voidaan tuottaa haluttu toiminnallisuus. |
