Abstract (eng): | In this thesis solving of shell problems by the finite element method was studied. The aim of this study was to find locking free linear and quadratic triangular shell elements. The elements are continuum-based and they use following hypothesis: zero normal stress, straight normal, small transverse shear deformations, mild taper, and the shell is relatively thin. The result is a two-dimensional shell element. The locking phenomenon of shell elements was avoided by employing assumed natural strains. In this thesis a three-node MITC3 shell element, a six-node ANS6 shell element, and four different six-node MITC6 shell elements were implemented in the general purpose finite element program Finnsap. The performance of the elements was tested in various types of problems. |
Abstract (fin): | Diplomityössä perehdyttiin kuoriongelmien ratkaisemiseen elementtimenetelmällä. Elementtien toimivuus pyrittiin varmistamaan suorittamalla useita testiajoja, joiden antamia tuloksia verrattiin kirjallisuudessa esitettyihin ratkaisuihin. |
