Abstract (eng): Grid computing helps scientists around the world to solve numerous diverse computationally intensive problems from quantum physics to climate modelling and bioinformatics.
This thesis explains how AUTO3DEM, an application used by biologists to study virus structures, was ported to a computing grid.
Based on experience with AUTO3DEM, the paper puts forward general guidelines for porting applications to grid.
Abstract (fin): Grid-laskenta auttaa tutkijoita ympäri maailmaa ratkaisemaan laskennallisesti vaativia ongelmia kvanttimekaniikasta ilmastomallinnukseen ja bioinformatiikkaan.
Tässä diplomityössä esitellään miten AUTO3DEM, biologien virusten rakenteen tutkimiseen käyttämä ohjelmisto. saatiin toimimaan gridissä.
Sen lisäksi esitellään yleiset ohjeet ohjelmistojen gridifiointiin.
