Abstract (eng): The main objective of this thesis was to observe and document the design processes of Seaking and especially the processes regarding the new automated 3D design system.
The design automation has been developed concurrently with product standardization projects targeting faster realization of the company's standard products.

The theoretical basis for the thesis is built around quality management principles since the primary objectives of the work are focused on processes and documentation; both of which are managed in quality systems.
Theory on information technology is examined to create a basis for analyzing the company's information systems and to understand its limitations and possibilities.
The current situation in the company is documented both by showing the design process workflow at various stages as well as studying the information technology used throughout the process.

During the thesis it was noted that the company should consider implementing a quality system.
Another important suggestion concerns improving the design and other processes by upgrading and developing information management with different IT solutions.
The suggestions are organized into two roadmaps one of which has concrete short-term ideas for documentation and improvement of the design process while the other one offers more abstract and elemental ideas for future development of the organization.
