Reading digital theses in the closed network of the Aalto University Harald Herlin Learning Centre

You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): This Thesis is a part of the FIN SUKE research project with emphasis on Specialty Contracts in Construction Management with the FIN SUKE approach as the main objective.

Problems with Speciality Contracts involve issues related to responsibilities and duties of different parties, as well as the fact that the traditional lump sum price bidding requires having all the designs completed at an early stage doesn't fit Specialty Contracts.

For maintaining technical innovation and progress it is important to involve Specialty Contractors in design and construction.
Seamless cooperation between the Owner and a Specialty Contractor will be needed so that the design work can be carried out in suitable detail throughout the assignment.

The process and nature of Specialty Contracts was examined through literary research.
Eight case studies of Specialty Contracts were examined to assess progress of detail in design throughout the assignment, schedule and nature of contract within the eight cases.
Research within the FIN SUKE project included the adaptation of Specialty Contracts in design steering and the level of completeness of the design with FIN SUKE guidelines and cornerstones.

FIN SUKE Specialty Contract gives guidelines how to define the contractual interfaces of Specialty Contract.
Problems with responsibilities and duties are dealt with detailed negotiations between the Owner and the Specialty Contractor before the contract.
To avoid problems of interfaces between contracts, the content of the Specialty Contract is extended.

FIN SUKE Specialty Contract Design Management guidelines include specific levels of detail for design in Invitation of Bids and design in Bids.
To give the Owner a better possibility to manage design work done by Specialty Contractor, FIN SUKE Specialty Contract orders all design work to be checked and approved by the Owner.
Abstract (fin): Tämä työ on valmistunut osana SUKE-projektia, ja keskittyy yleisen SUKE-mallin mukaiseen tuoteosakauppaan.

Suunnittelualoittain ja materiaaliryhmittäin tapahtuva urakointimalli ei sovellu hyvin tuoteosakauppaan.
Tuoteosakaupassa on ollut ongelmia tehtävien ja vastuiden kanssa.
Perinteinen kokonaishintakilpailu edellyttää valmiita suunnitelmia heti alussa, ja toimii tuoteosakaupassa huonosti.

Tekninen innovointi ja kehitys edellyttävät, että toimittajat saadaan nykyistä enemmän mukaan suunnitteluun ja toteutukseen.
Tuoteosakaupalla tämä on helppo järjestää projektinjohtototeutuksessa.
Sujuva yhteistyö tuoteosatoimittajien kanssa edellyttää, että suunnittelu osataan tehdä sopivalla tarkkuudella hankkeen eri vaiheissa.

Tutkimuksessa tutkittiin kirjallisuuden kautta tuoteosakaupan prosessia ja luonnetta, kahdeksan esimerkkikohteen kautta tarkasteltiin suunnitelmien kehittymistä, aikataulua ja tuoteosakaupan luonnetta kyseisissä hankinnoissa.
Tutkimustyö SUKE-projektin mukana sisälsi tuoteosakaupan soveltumista SUKE-mallin suunnitelmien ohjaukseen ja tuoteosakaupan suunnitelmien valmiustasoon tuoteosakaupan eri vaiheissa.

SUKE-mallin tuoteosakauppa vastaa tuoteosakaupan ongelmiin mm. tuoteosan rajapintojen tarkemmalla määrittämisellä mm. liittyvä liittyy-periaatteella, tehtävien ja vastuiden tarkemmalla määrittämisellä tilaajan ja toimittajan välisen kanssakäymisen kautta ennen sopimuksen solmimista, vähentämällä rajapintoja ja sen mukanaan tuomia ongelmia kasvattamalla tuoteosan kokoa.

Yleisen SUKE-mallin mukaisesti tuoteosakaupan suunnittelun ohjaus antaa yleisen, ohjeellisten suunnitelmien tasoisen suunnitelmavalmiuden tarjouspyynnön suunnitelmille, mahdollisine vaihtoehtoineen (täydelliset suunnitelmat sekä suunnitelmavaatimukset) sekä tarjoussuunnitelmien yleisen ohjeellisten suunnitelmien valmiustason.
Tilaajan vaikutusmahdollisuuksia ja toimittajan suunnittelutyön ohjaamista SUKE-mallin tuoteosakauppa edistää toimittajan suunnitelmien hyväksyttämisen edellyttämisellä tilaajan suunnittelijoilla.
