Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng):The purpose of this study was to build a process database for foundry and Machine Shop Corporation.

In the theoretical part the production process of cast part is studied, its phases and order of phases. Also the history, operation and designing of databases application is studied. Production of a cast part is a process with many phases. The database gives good solutions to handle all the information about the process.

The experimental part consist of three parts. First all information about corporation's machining centres and lathes was collected. Then a machine shop database including machine data, machining time calculation and cost calculation for machining was designed and build. Finally a construction for foundry database was designed.

Result of this study is a database which contains all information that is required for accurate time and cost calculation. The system gives reports which make it possible to fasten the drive-in phase. For foundry the databases a structure and instructions how to actually make implementation was designed.
Abstract (fin):Tämän työn tarkoituksena oli rakentaa menetelmätietokanta valimo-ja konepajakonsernille.

Teoriaosuudessa tutkittiin valetun kappaleen valmistusprosessin vaiheita ja muuttujia menetelmäsuunnittelun kannalta. Myös tietokantojen historiaan, toimintaan ja tietokantasovelluksen suunnittelun lähtökohtiin luotiin katsaus. Valetun kappaleen valmistaminen on prosessi, joka jakaantuu useisiin osavaiheisiin. Näiden prosessiin liittyvien tietojen hallintaan tietokannat antavatkin hyvän ratkaisun.

Kokeellisessa osuudessa rakennettiin konepajoille menetelmätietokanta. Työ aloitettiin keräämällä konsernin työstökoneiden tiedot. Tämän jälkeen rakennettiin menetelmätietokanta, jossa oli kolme osaa: Työstökoneet teknisine tietoineen, työstöajanlaskenta koneistuskeskukselle ja sorville sekä kappaleen valmistuskustannusten laskenta. Lopuksi mietittiin mitä ominaisuuksia valimotietokannalta halutaan ja laadittiin näiden selvitysten pohjalta esimerkkirakenne valimotietokannalle.

Työn tuloksena syntyi tietokanta, joka sisältää kaikki konsernin työstökoneet ja mahdollistaa työstöajan tarkan laskennan. Laskelmasta saatavien dokumenttien avulla on uusien tuotteiden sisäänajoa mahdollista ohjata ja tehostaa. Lisäksi työssä rakennettiin valimon menetelmätietokannan rakenne.
