Abstract (eng): | Reduction of emissions and use of natural resources is a theme nowadays, not to mention healthy indoor environment, which is hanging in the balance due to urgent schedules of construction business. Dehumidification wheel applications provide good indoor air quality control. Dehumidification wheels are used to reduce refrigeration requirements in air-conditioning systems, thus reducing the energy consumption of the chiller. Theoretically, the chiller is only needed to adjust the supply air temperature at peak loads, hence allowing smaller sizing. In whole-building simulation programs, the operation of the above systems is commonly modelled through constant efficiencies. Although there are several mathematical models for the simulation of active desiccant wheels, many of them are complicated in the sense of usefulness and computational time. The objective of this study is to assess the energy saving potential of a passive desiccant wheel. To that end a simplified, parametric simulation model is developed and implemented in a whole building simulation software IDA ICE. The model is based on experimental data on real products, achieved through the measurements of Eurovent Certification Company, which is adapted to the present application by way of polynomial expressions. The performance of various system designs is assessed in worldwide locations and the results were encouraging. |
Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on määrittää passiivisen kuivauspyörän energiansäästöpotentiaali. Tämän vuoksi kehitettiin yksinkertainen, parametrinen malli, joka implementoitiin IDA ICE rakennusten energiasimulointi ohjelmistoon. Malli perustuu oikeiden tuotteiden kokeellisiin tietoihin, jotka Eurovent Certification Company on mitannut. Saadut tiedot muokattiin polynomilausekkeiksi. Erilaisten järjestelmämallien toimintaa selvitettiin sijainneissa ympäri maailmaa ja tulokset olivat kannustavia. |
