You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): The purpose of this thesis was to define the combustion chamber modification to Adour Mk.861A-03 aircraft engine and verify the influences of the modification in an engine test cell.
The aim of the thesis was to define a new configuration where Adour Mk.851 engines' combustion chamber structure is used in Adour Mk.861A-03 engine.
After the definition the influences were wanted to be verified in the engine test cell.

Definition of the configuration was based on manufacturers' manuals and instructions.
After definition the modification process was accomplished in two phases.
At the first phase Adour Mk.861A-03 engine was tested in the engine test cell to gather the performance characteristics of basic configuration.
After the first set of performance tests the modification was accomplished to the engine.
At the second phase the modified engine went through the same performance tests as the basic engine at the first phase.
After the tests, results were analysed and compared.

As a result of this study the new configuration for Adour Mk.861A-03 aircraft engine was defined and influences were verified.
The results were promising and future goal is to get the modified engine in to service at Finnish Air Forces.
Abstract (fin): Työssä esitellään Adour Mk. 861A-03 suihkumoottorin muutossuunnittelu ja muutosten vaikutus suoritusarvoihin.
Tavoitteena oli selvittää, millaisia muutoksia Adour Mk. 861A-03 moottoriin tarvitsee tehdä, jotta siinä voidaan käyttää Adour Mk. 851 moottorin polttokammiorakennetta.
Lisäksi muutosten aiheuttamat vaikutukset haluttiin todentaa koekäytöillä.
Asiaa tutkittiin kokeellisen vertailututkimuksen avulla.

Muutossuunnittelu suoritettiin valmistajan ohjekirjallisuuteen tukeutuen.
Tutkimusdata saatiin testaamalla tutkimuksen kohteena ollutta moottoria koekäytössä.
Moottorin testaus suoritettiin kahdessa osassa.
Ensimmäisen vaiheen jälkeen moottoriin suoritettiin muutossuunnittelun mukainen modifikaatio.
Toisessa vaiheessa moottorille suoritettiin vastaavat testaukset kuin vaiheessa yksi.
Koekäyttöjen jälkeen tuloksia verrattiin ja niistä tehtiin tarvittavat johtopäätökset.

Työn tuloksena saatiin selville polttokammiomodifikaation vaikutukset Adour Mk.861A-03 suihkumoottorin suoritusarvoihin.
Tulosten arvioinnin perusteella todettiin, että modifikaation tuomat muutokset moottorin käyttäytymiseen ovat lupaavia ja projektia kannattaa jatkaa eteenpäin.
Tulevaisuuden tavoitteena on, että modifioitu moottori saadaan lentopalvelukseen.
