Abstract (eng):The objective of the thesis is to identify a management approach to support implementation of manufacturing ramp-ups in a case company.

The study follows the action research approach.
First, the current knowledge and literature on manufacturing ramp-up is reviewed.
Second, the situation and ramp-up challenges in the case company are analyzed based on interviews and company documents, focusing on the ramp-up of a sample product.
Third, key findings are presented from benchmarking interviews with five companies.
Fourth, recommendations for the case company are presented, including changes to organization and management practices, a new ramp-up process model, and targets and metrics for future ramp-ups.

The most important deliverable of the study is the new ramp-up process model, which implements the recommended changes for the case company.
The new ramp-up process model complements the existing stage-gate model used in product development at the company.
The new ramp-up process model has been created from a production point of view, but covers the responsibilities of many other functions as well.
Abstract (fin):Työn keskeisenä tavoitteena on löytää tapa johtaa ja organisoida uusien investointituotteiden tuotannon ylösajo.

Työn tutkimusmetodi on toimintatutkimus.

Työn tärkein tuotos on uusi prosessimalli tuotannon ylösajolle case yrityksessä.
Uusi malli täydentää jo olemassa olevaa tuotekehityksen prosessimallia.
Uusi malli tuotannon ylösajolle on kehitetty tuotannon näkökannalta, mutta kattaa myös monia muita funktioita.
