Abstract (eng): The thesis explores the opportunities and challenges of the forthcoming 3G in China.
As the biggest and the most attractive market in terms of telecommunication services, China faces the question of how to establish a highly efficient telecom infrastructure and how to provide desired and profitable services portfolio.
The thesis tries to settle the question by benchmarking telecom services and analyzing the industrial situation of Japan and Korea.
The thesis also tentatively forecasts future 3G trends in China and figures out a way for services provisioning.

Compared with the telecom industry history, regulatory policies, marketing situation, main business and strategies of leading Japan and Korea telecom operators, we make conclusions: China should figure out and implement a way to develop a healthy regulatory system including industrial law and policies to import fair competition to local market, and break down monopoly.
This essential, compulsory work may guarantee a potential long-term continuous progress.
By analyzing, we discussed different service portfolios.
The 3G communication services like mobile financial services, mobile gaming, mobile learning, mobile commerce service, and traffic control service have promising future in terms of both social contributions and financial returns.
The forthcoming 3G services in China will be definitely fast growing and can step into mature in the near future.
