Abstract (eng): Mechatronics is a field that combines several disciplines taught at the Aalto university school of science and technology.
Most of the faculties organize teaching within their own courses and arrange exercises related to the courses.
In this case, the exchange of information between different disciplines and the combination of courses syllabus into a functional aggregate are often neglected.
Interdisciplinary knowledge and information integration requires special focus in the field of mechatronics, but in the past multidisciplinary information integration has been possible essentially through project courses.
Since Helsinki University of Technology transferred to a two-cycle degree structure in 1.8.2005, like other Finnish universities, it has been possible to study mechatronics as a minor at other departments.
Differences in students' background of knowledge and their access to the educational programs have varied, which has led to problems in designing mechatronics education agenda.

To solve some of the problems related to information exchange between different disciplines, it has been decided to establish a learning environment for mechatronics.
To set up a learning environment a literature survey has been done, including an evaluation of suitable teaching pedagogies in mechatronics, teaching equipment and mechatronics colleges.

In order to take into use the learning environment, teaching equipment and software for teaching to achieve educational objectives, appropriate hardware and software have been selected in conjunction with the staff of the Department of Engineering Design and Production.
A teaching unit concept has also been designed and built to demonstrate the selected teaching approach and to achieve selected educational objectives
Abstract (fin): Mekatroniikka on ala, joka yhdistää Aalto-yliopiston teknillisellä korkeakoululla opetettavia useita eri tieteen aloja.

Tämän ongelman ratkaisemiseksi on päätetty perustaa mekatroniikan oppimisympäristö.
