Abstract (eng): In this work, the scope is on the modular design of the power electronics.
A modular approach is applied to power electronics, especially in Efore product portfolio, under 2 kW power supplies.
First, power electronics design is introduced in Efore environment using two product categories, AC-DC and DC-DC converters.

In the next part, a modular design approach is presented in the power electronics application.
Modular design emphasises well-defined interfaces and low coupling between the modules.
The advantages are the ability to reuse and standardise the designs.
The modular approach also eases the introduction of new techniques.

Besides modular design, knowledge management is presented.
Knowledge management and modular design have much in common even though the approach is different.

Last part is a case study where modular design is applied to power electronics by using an example of an AC-DC converter to show the main modules and interfaces.
Abstract (fin): Tässä työssä perehdytään modulaariseen suunnitteluun tehoelektroniikassa.
Sovelluskohteena on tehoelektroniikka, erityisesti Eforen tuotealueet, alle 2 kW teholähteet.
Aluksi esitellään tehoelektroniikan suunnittelua Eforen tuotealueilla, erityisesti AC-DC ja DC-DC muuttajilla.

Seuraavassa osassa käsitellään tarkemmin modulaariseen suunnitteluun tehoelektroniikassa.
Lisäksi uusien teknologioiden käyttöönotto on helpompaa.

Modulaarisen suunnittelun lisäksi käsitellään tietämyksenhallintaa.
Tietämyksenhallinnalla ja modulaarisella suunnittelulla on paljon yhteistä vaikka lähestymistapa on hyvin erilainen.
Työn lopussa esitellään esimerkin avulla modulaarista suunnittelua tehoelektroniikassa.
