Abstract (eng): | Almost invariably all of the flows in process industry are controlled by control valves and measured by flow meters. A control valve can also be used as a flow meter when the pressure differential over the valve and inherent flow characteristic are known. Calibration of the flow meter is a precondition for accurate flow measurement. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the basis of the calibration system for a control valve used as a flow meter. The principle of flow measurement when using a control valve as a flowmeter is presented in this work. Also the calibration system is introduced. In addition to the modem flow meter methods the methods for the pressure differential flow meters are studied in the beginning of literature research. After that the basis of pipeline design and devices which develop flows are introduced. Also the general guidelines for calibration of measuring devices are concerned. The flow passing through a control valve can be calculated with standardized valve sizing formulas. The accuracy of the flow calculations based on the sizing formulas was studied in laboratory experiments. Based on the literature research and the laboratory experiments a calibration system, including a preliminary cost calculation, was designed for a control valve used as a flow meter. |
Abstract (fin): | Prosessiteollisuuden virtauksia säädetään lähes poikkeuksetta säätöventtiileillä ja virtausmääriä mitataan virtausmittareilla. Tarkan virtausmittauksen edellytyksenä on virtausmittarin kalibrointi. Tämän työn tarkoituksena on selvittää perusteet kalibrointijärjestelmälle, jossa kalibroidaan virtausmittareina toimivia säätöventtiileitä. Standardin mukaisilla venttiilin mitoitusyht1:iloilla voidaan venttiilin läpi kulkeva virtaus laskea aineen olomuodosta riippumatta. Laboratoriokokeissa selvitettiin virtauslaskennan tarkkuus virtaavan väliaineen eri olomuodoille. Kirjallisuustutkimuksen ja laboratoriokokeiden perusteella suunniteltiin kalibrointilaitteisto virtausmittarina toimivalle venttiilille ja tehtiin alustavat kustannuslaskelmat. |
