Reading digital theses in the closed network of the Aalto University Harald Herlin Learning Centre

You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) system is a digital radio communication system which is designed for demanding professional use.
Typical users of EADS TETRA system are various authority organizations, such as army, fire and rescue department and police.
These users of TETRA system need reliable and protected communication services.
Software and hardware offered for customers need to be mature and reliable.
Testing is required for ensuring the sufficient maturity of different system elements and is especially addressed in the experimental part of this thesis.

EADS has a testing organization which is responsible for testing EADS TETRA system.
Testing is designed to challenge the system in several phases.
Testing phases focus especially on availability, efficiency and security.
This thesis targets clarifying tests run by EADS investigating software and system general reliability.
Testing tools have also been analyzed.
Experimental part of study deals with laboratory based customer testing project scoping to find reasons why certain faults were to start with unidentified.
System faults were partially identified and clarification with discovered and undiscovered faults is also part of this thesis.

This thesis indicates there is a need to develop EADS testing process; project and tools to ensure performance of addressed testing procedures.
Reasons for unfound faults were especially discussed.
Abstract (fin): EADS SN Oy:n TETRA-järjestelmä on digitaalinen radiopuhelinjärjestelmä, joka on suunniteltu vaativaan viranomaiskäyttöön.
EADS TETRA -järjestelmän tyypillisiä käyttäjiä ovat eri viranomaistahot kuten armeija, palo- ja pelastustoimi ja poliisi.
TETRA-järjestelmän käyttäjät tarvitsevat luotettavaa ja suojattua kommunikaatiopalveluita.
Näin ollen sekä ohjelmistojen että laitteiden, joita toimitetaan asiakkaille, tulee olla kypsiä ja luotettavia.
Testauksella, joka on myös tämän työn kokeellisen osan tarkastelun kohteena, voidaan varmistaa eri järjestelmäelementtien riittävä kypsyys.

EADS:lla on testausorganisaatio, joka on vastuussa EADS:n TETRA-järjestelmän testauksesta.
Testaus on suunniteltu haastamaan järjestelmää useassa eri vaiheessa.
Testaus vaiheet keskittyvät erityisesti saatavuuteen, tehokkuuteen ja turvallisuuteen.
Tämä työ keskittyy selvittämään tarkastelemaan EADS:n toteuttamaa ohjelmistojen sekä järjestelmän testausta.
Testaustyökalut on myös analysoitu.
Työn kokeellisessa osassa selvitetään myös syitä asiakastestausprojektissa osittain löytymättä jääneisiin vikoihin.

Tämän työn perusteella on olemassa perusteita kehittää EADS:n testausprosessia, - projekteja sekä -työkaluja, jotta voidaan olla varmoja tarkasteltujen testiproseduurien Suorituskyvyistä Myös syyt asiakasprojektissa löytymättä jääneisiin vikoihin selvisivät.
