| Abstract (eng): | My master's thesis is a plan for the park Hyväntoivonpuisto. The plan was prepared as a consultancy work for the city of Helsinki Public Works Department. The park is located on Jätkäsaari in Helsinki, near the harbour Länsisatama. The park is approximately 5 hectares. The park is about 550 meters long and 88 meters wide, and is formed like the letter S. The area is marked as a recreational area in the city plan. It is the local park for Jätkäsaari in the first building stage. Later on the park will be completed, thus stretching over one kilometre in the south. When ready, the park will border the seaside. I have been the head architect for the park during the almost clients three year long project, being in charge of the park's design and solutions. The planning has not been the work of a single person; it has been collaboration between a diverse team and the buyer's guiding organization. It has been important to compile the ideas this group has come up with, into design solutions within a single frame. The buyer's large organization has been informed about the progress of the plan regularly. The presentation started with sketches and gradually moved towards the finished plan for the park. The planning of the park has been assisted by a story, which 1 immediately started to develop after we received the work order. The place and its spirit are the greatest influences on the park's story. The place, an old harbour, awoke strong associations. The story has been a source of inspiration in the design. In the end, the most important thing is whether the park can be realized and the functionality of the finished park. My master's thesis is a collage of the designing of the park as seen by the head architect. The master's thesis consists of a written description of this project and of a separate picture material. Additional to the development from the beginning, this thesis also contains documents from the different stages in the planning process; such as a drawing for the park plan, detail drawings, a summary of the plan, and drawings from the building project and the cost estimate for building the park. |
| Abstract (fin): | Diplomityöni on Helsingin kaupungin rakennusvirastolle (HKR) konsulttityönä laadittu Hyväntoivonpuiston puistosuunnitelma. Puistoalue sijaitsee Helsingin Jätkäsaaressa Länsi- Sataman alueella. Puiston pinta-ala on noin 5 ha. Puisto on noin 550 metriä pitkä ja 88 metriä leveä, S-kirjaimen muotoa mukaileva alue. Asemakaavassa alue on merkitty VP -alueeksi. Se on Jätkäsaaren ensimmäisen vaiheen kaupunginosapuisto. Myöhemmin puisto täydentyy eteläisellä osalla kilometrin millaiseksi ja lopullinen puistokokonaisuus rajoittuu meren rantaan. Olen toiminut puiston pääsuunnittelijana lähes kolme vuotta kestäneen hankkeen ajan ja vastannut puiston suunnitteluratkaisuista. Suunnittelu ei ole ollut yhden ihmisen työ vaan se on ollut monialaisen työryhmän ja sitä ohjanneen tilaajaorganisaation yhteistyötä. Tämän laajan ryhmän sisällä syntyvien mielikuvien yhtenäistämisessä on ollut tärkeää pukea suunnitelmaratkaisut yhteen kehykseen. Suunnitelman etenemistä on esitelty tasaisin välein laajalle tilaajaorganisaatiolle. Esittely on edennyt karkeasta luonnosmateriaalista hiljalleen valmiiseen puistosuunnitelmaan. Puistosuunnittelua on edesauttanut voimakkaasti tarina, jonka kehittelyn aloitin välittömästi työtilauksen saatuamme. Puiston tarinassa suurin vaikutus on paikalla ja sen hengellä. Paikka, vanha satama-alue, synnytti vahvoja mielikuvia. Tarina on suunnittelutyössä ollut inspiraation lähde. Työssä tärkeintä on puistokokonaisuuden rakentamisen toteutuskelpoisuus ja valmiin puiston toimivuus. Diplomityössä on mukana kirjallinen kuvaus tästä hankkeesta sekä erillinen esittelykuva-aineisto. Luonnosvaiheen kehittymisen lisäksi tässä työssä on mukana puistosuunnitelman eri vaiheiden asiakirjoja, kuten puistosuunnitelmapiirustus, detaljipiirustuksia, suunnitelmaselostus, rakennussuunnitelmavaiheen piirustuksia sekä puiston rakentamisen kustannusarvio. |
