Abstract (eng): A bed-sensor system was developed in The Laboratory of Applied Electronics for measuring basic biosignals from a patient.
The device is intended to be used in elder care, where its ability to detect the presence of a person lying on the bed was felt to be of practical value to the nursing staff.
Currently the device remains untested outside of a controlled laboratory environment.
It was decided that the next development phase should thus involve performing clinical tests with the system.

As the sensor system was being prepared for clinical testing, several faults were discovered in its digital signal processing methods.
These defects must be attended to, before testing can commence.
The subject of this thesis concerns the analysis of these problems and the identification of the factors contributing to them.
These are found both in the internal design of the system, as well as the environment (bed and patient) in which the system is placed.

As a result, a better understanding of what challenges the signal processing methods must overcome is achieved.
The methods currently in use were found to require extensive redesign.
Based on the findings, several suggestions regarding the general design of the system are also presented.
Abstract (fin): Sovelletun elektroniikan laboratoriossa on kehitetty sänkyanturijärjestelmä potilaan elintoimintojen monitoroimiseksi.
