Abstract (eng): Transport networks have traditionally been dominated by circuit-switched technologies.
As content has changed from simple voice traffic to data and multimedia traffic with different quality demands, packet-switched technologies such as IP/MPLS have gained ground.
MPLS-TP is an adaptation of MPLS architecture, which imitates circuit-switched technologies and is designed especially for transport networks.

In this work, an automated network management system solution was implemented for managing static MPLS-TP tunnels.
In addition, a novel end-to-end tunnel management perspective was designed.
The work was done completely on Tellabs 8000 Network Manager Network management system, without making any changes to the network elements.

The MPLS-TP standard under development and Tellabs 8000 Network Manager has been presented on applicable parts first.
The designed and implemented work has been elaborated next.
The accomplished solution was then evaluated with tests related to its features and functioning, based on which it was found usable and functional.
Thus, the work succeeded as planned.
Abstract (fin): Siirtoverkot ovat perinteisesti olleet piirikytkentäisten teknologioiden hallitsemia.
Sisällön muuttuessa yksinkertaisesta puheliikenteestä erilaisia laatuvaatimuksia edellyttäväksi data- ja multimedialiikenteeksi, pakettikytkentäiset teknologiat, kuten IP/MPLS, ovat vallanneet alaa.
MPLS-TP on erityisesti siirtoverkkoja varten kehitetty piirikytkentäisiä teknologioita jäljittelevä MPLS-arkkitehtuurin muunnelma.
