Abstract (eng): The simulation of a motorcycle is an important part of the motorcycle development process.
This work handles the kinematic and the dynamic side of the motorcycle simulation.
The motorcycle structure is presented, and the effects it has on the kinematics of the motorcycle.
Two-dimensional motorcycle kinematic model is presented, and parameters extracted from it are handled.
In addition the two dimensional model is expanded into three dimensional model, and parameters extracted from this are handled.

An important part of this work is the optimization algorithm for the rear suspension linkage system.
With the optimization algorithm it is possible to calculate new linkage ratios and their change over the suspension travel without affecting the other kinematic parameters.

Also an expansion of the kinematic model to collision detection model is represented.
With the collision detection analysis, it is possible to perform clash detections between different parts in simulation environment.
The collision detection can be performed on different suspension and steering states.

In addition the work presents a survey to the dynamic simulation of the motorcycle.
Methods for dynamic simulation and the parameters that can be extracted by different dynamic simulations are represented.
Abstract (fin): Moottoripyörän simulointi on tärkeä osa moottoripyörän tuotekehitysprosessia.

Oleellinen osa tätä työtä on optimointialgoritmi takajousituksen vipumekanismille.
Optimointialgoritmilla voidaan laskea uusia mekanismin välityssuhteita ja niiden muutosta jousituksen jouston yli ilman että muut kinemaattiset parametrit muuttuvat.

Työssä esitellään myös kinemaattisen mallin laajennus moottoripyörän osien törmäystutkimukseen.
Törmäystutkimuksessa voidaan simuloinnilla tutkia osuvatko eri osat toisiinsa jousituksen tai ohjauksen liikkeiden aikana.

Lisäksi työssä esitetään selvitys moottoripyörän dynaamisen simuloinnin mahdollisuuksista, sekä mitä tuloksia dynaamisella simuloinnilla voidaan saavuttaa.
