Abstract (eng):The Master's thesis addressed the problem of short circuit protection of a lithium-ion battery and a DC-DC converter in a heavy-duty hybrid electric vehicle.
In thisthesis literary research and interviews were used to investigate problems andpossible solutions in above-mentioned setting.
Commonly used short circuitprotection devices i.e. a fuse and a DC contactor were selected for a more detailedinvestigation. As a result, it was concluded that dimensioning of the protection devices to abattery system is difficult and some of the protection devices are better suitable forthe protection of a hybrid electric car.
To solve the dimensioning problem, possibility to use battery simulation models on dimensioning of the protectiondevices was investigated.
As a result, it is concluded that a suitable battery modelfor this type of use is not available.
Existing models have not been tested insimulation of the short circuit situations. In this thesis, the possibility of starting the fuse arcing time with a specificallydesigned fuse burning circuit was investigated with measurements.
Based on themeasurements, it was found that the solutions did not behave as expected.Although, this thesis could not find a solution to the presented research problem, itwas able to highlight the problems with the current short circuit protectionsolutions and give suggestions for further research.
Abstract (fin):Tämä diplomityö käsittelee raskaassa hybridityökoneessa käytettävänlitiumioniakun ja tasasähkökatkojanmuodostaman kokonaisuudenoikosulkusuojausta.
Työssä selvitettiin kirjallisuustutkimuksella ja haastatteluillalitiumioniakkujen oikosulkusuojaukseen liittyviä ongelmia ja niiden mahdollisiaratkaisuja.
Tutkimuksen kohteeksi otettiin yleisesti oikosulkusuojaukseenkäytettävät laitteet: sulake ja DC-kontaktori.Selvitystyön tuloksien perusteella todettiin, että suojalaitteiden mitoittaminenakkujärjestelmään on hankalaa ja osa suojalaitteista soveltuu paremminhenkilöautokokoluokan suojaukseen.
Mitoittamisongelman ratkaisuksi tutkittiinmahdollisuutta hyödyntää akkujen simulointimalleja oikosulkusuojienmitoituksessa.
Tutkimuksessa osoittautui, ettei kyseiseen käyttötarkoitukseenlöytynyt sopivaa mallia, eikä olemassa olevien akkumallien käyttöä ole testattuoikosulkutilanteiden simuloinnissa.Työssä tutkittiin lisäksi mahdollisuutta käynnistää sulakkeen valokaariaika siihensuunnitellulla sulakkeenpolttopiirillä.
Suoritettujen mittauksien perusteella ratkaisuei toiminut toivotulla tavalla.
Siitä huolimatta, että työssä ei kyetty löytämäänratkaisua tutkimusongelmaan, nykyisten ratkaisujen ongelmakohtia saatiinnostettua esiin ja ehdotettua jatkotutkimuskohteita.
