Abstract:In this article, it is reflected on the context in which the paper "Competitive groups as cognitive communities: the case of Scottish knitwear manufacturers" by Porac, Thomas and Baden-Fuller emerged, the effect it has had, and the possible future research on cognition in strategy. The challenges connected with establishing cognition as a legitimate factor in strategic management are highlighted and the causal relationship between cognition and strategic results is indicated. It is concluded by examining current research in cognition and strategy field.
