Tiivistelmä:Asia's hot industry is textiles. As tariffs drop, Asia should dominate world markets. Galloping globalization and Asia's low labor costs are about to revolutionize the world textile industry. Chinese companies pay their textile workers just 43 cents an hour. The textile industry in the rich world will dwindle to specialized manufacturing. In Australia, for example, where the hourly pay scale is about $7, competition from low-cost Asian textile imports has played a role in the loss of some 250,000 jobs over the past decade or so. After China becomes a WTO member, the country, already the globe's biggest textile producer, is expected to seize the greater part of the world's newly accessible textile markets.
