Tiivistelmä:Recent world events have confronted Americans with a startling reality: we are not always liked overseas. In focusing on government policy and popular icons, commentators have overlooked the role of American multinationals as a major culprit. In their guest to be globally competitive, U.S. businesses strive for consistency through world-wide systems and cost consolidation. The stage is set for culture clash with the customers that multinational corporations seek to serve and with the employees they wish to recruit. To redress the imbalance, ways of ensuring concern for other cultures without compromising corporate vision or strategy are identified in this paper.
