| Tiivistelmä: | This article discusses the new and old modes of governance in European industrial relations. It concentrates on the European integration process as an essential source of change, first describing the weaknesses of informal coordination of wage bargaining within and across countries, then analysing the tensions for trade unions generated by Economic and Monetary Union. The reduction of legal standards of welfare and social rights and the diffusion of opening clauses in sectoral agreements are also studied. |
