| Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines the significance of international (hereafter as: int.) knowledge spillovers (here as: K-sps.) through inward and outward foreign direct investment (as: FDI), intermediate goods imports, and a disembodied direct channel based on panel data from 16 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries from 1981 to 2000. K-sps. are approximated by using a measure of technological proximity and patent citations btw. the countries. Using estimation models, it is shown that int. K-sps. through inward FDI and the disembodied direct channel are significant and robust. However, in contrast outward FDI and imports of intermediate goods are not conducive to int. K-Sps. |
