| Tiivistelmä: | Translator (hereafter as: trl-or./trl-ors.) status is regarded being low. This article deals with the concept of status reporting on the first step of a comprehensive empirical project aimed at investigating the status of professional trl-ors. in various contexts. This study on focus involved a group of trl-ors. working for 13 major Danish companies considered to be at the high end of the status continuum, namely full-time Danish staff trl-ors. with MA qualifications in translation. Four parameters of occupational status are considered: i. salary, ii. education/expertise, iii. fame/visibility, and iv. influence/power. Based on written questionnaires, the analysis deals with the status of trl-ors. as perceived by themselves and their fellow employees. |
