Tiivistelmä: | Two regions in Eastern Germany and Poland were used as case examples to investigate industrial and service clusters and their catalyst effect on innovation propensity. The survey used small and medium enterprises point of view to examine clusters as the motor for sustained regional development. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed with help of the theoretical model of Porters competitive diamond. The purpose of this paper is to develop a better understanding of the necessity for interaction between companies and policy makers. The findings show that cluster formation is more advanced in Eastern Germany than in Poland. However it is possible to both regions to utilize their own cultural benefits as a source of competitive advantage. |
