| Tiivistelmä: | This article aims at stimulating interest in musical texts' translation by exploring Anglo-American musicals (henceafter as: A-A. mscls.) sung in Spanish. Offering a historical overview of the reception of stage musicals in Spain, it examines the criteria for the selection of source texts for performance in sung translation. It is shown that the successful importation of A-A. mscls. into Spain has been instrumental in fostering the indigenous production of a genre apparently foreign to the country's musical tradition etc. |
