Tiivistelmä:This article deals with the issue of the career deal in Iceland, where the career surroundings were seen as potentially quite different from the surroundings of the UK and US, the two most common career environment research locations. The analysis was conducted on four Icelandic organizations, and the analysed data was collected through a longitudinal questionnaire survey. The findings of the analysis indicate that the Icelandic career deal environment does indeed lack some of the career deal dimensions present in the UK. In the Icelandic environment organizational career management and career self-management were found to be closely connected. It was also found that even though career managing help reinforces employees' commitment to their employers, it doesn't translate into employees investing more energy into managing their own careers with their current employers. The results of the the study suggest that compared to the UK, career-self management in Iceland is somewhat marginal.
