| Tiivistelmä: | This article deals with the controversial and much-debated topic of biotechnology. The paper investigates the ways in which the metaphorical constructions in the Danish media discourse reproduce the points of view of particular groups of the Danish society. The article starts with a theoretical discussion of conceptual metaphor studies and critical discourse analysis, and goes on to an empirical part of the study in which biotech-related metaphors of the Danish print press are analysed. The findings of the analysis indicate that particular societal groups have a strong influence on these metaphorical constructions, which are also based on basic image schematic structures. |
