Tiivistelmä:This article investigates the change of the U.S. business press's portrayals of leaders after the landmark corporate scandals of the 21st Century and the following increase in the U.S. business media's emphasis on issues of ethics in corporate leadership after the scandal. A content analysis of 180 articles about business leaders in Business Week, Fortune, and Forbes magazine is conducted, half of the articles from five years preceding the landmark scandals and half from five years following. The results do not show any evidence that the scandals had changed media's portrayals of leaders to be more ethical. The authors attribute the findings to the worldview in the U.S. business press that emphasizes leader traits and actions that have a direct impact on corporate profits.
