Tiivistelmä:The purpose of this study is to trace negative and limiting media depictions of public relations (here as: p.r.) to their origins in the 1920. The research paper aims to determine whether modern media characterizations of p.r. are new or originate in the past. The New York Times and Time magazines are chosen to sample in the qualitative content analysis. The findings reveal that reporting about p.r. was primarily fair at the time. The early practitioners were effectively working to define the profession, including the "great men" of p.r. history and also more common practitioners. For causing confusion about p.r., the practitioners and media of 1920s are equally guilty.
