Tiivistelmä: | This article explores the discursive method utilized by a sample of white college students in the United States (U.S.) when engaging in racetalk. A lot of contradictions within their responses are found and it is said that these are not coincidental. They might support the interlocutors in their impression management and also rationalize the racial order. It is argued that this form of racetalk, whether intentionally or unintentionally, defends the white racial frame and allows respondents to project blame onto non-white Americans for race problems, and acknowledge racial difference only in the context which is good for whites. |
