Tiivistelmä:This article's focus is on gender differences among university graduates as to self-employment (henceforth as: s-e). Explored are the characteristics of self-employed men and women, focusing especially on the contribution of field of study as a determinant of the gender gap in s-e. rates. This approach is based on probit regressions and on a non-linear decomposition technique application to the gender gap in s-e. It is found that age and field of study account for 2/3 of the observed gender gap in s-e.
